Inparsiddy park - August 2018

Our First Project - Inparsiddy Children’s Park! We are very proud of our contribution for Inparsiddy Children’s Park which we began funding for in May 2017. After funding over £8000, we are very proud to say that we have helped build a recreational area for the children of Inparsiddy to enjoy and relax with their friends. As of August 2018, the park has been open to the people of Inparsiddy. This is our very first project and has meant so much to each of us. We pride ourselves in being able to say that we have helped build something that can benefit the local community for many years to come. Seeing the smiles of children warms our heart and encourages us to do more projects like this that can be beneficial to the local communities in Sri Lanka. Over a year on, it is estimated that 50 - 100 people are enjoying the park on an average week. This includes not only people from Inparsiddy but also surrounding areas, an achievement we are very pleased with. This project began when late Mr Kannapathippillai Annalingham came to us with a request to run this project on behalf of the Inparsiddy Community Centre. We are happy to have cooperated and strengthened our relationship with them and the Inparsiddy community. We are also proud to say that the park has also been funded to have lighting in an area which previously lacked electrical supply, further benefitting the wider community. We hope that the children’s park has and will continue to bring a safe place for children to play and have fun with others. This is one way we wish to build the community by bringing locals together. We believe that the addition of this park will increase social interaction and create a warmer and loving environment for all. We also take health and fitness as a basic essential that everyone should have access to thus, supporting the funding of this park. We hope that the psychological and physical benefits of this brings greater joy and inspires others to support further progressive projects organised by Saththiyavan Trust. We have also learnt a lot from our first project that we wish to apply and improve at every stage of our future projects.
